Job Description

The Sr. Mechanical

Engineer position will have experience related to electronic packaging of board level, chassis level

and system level products. Responsibilities include design, analysis and testing of product design for

use in military, telecom and high energy physics applications. Ability to lead support personnel in

the preparation of detailed design, testing and prototype fabrication. Provides design information to

drafting for packaging documentation.

Essential Functions:

* Work closely with colleagues from product development, manufacturing and product

management performing a multitude of activities throughout the product development lifecycle

ranging from product design to field support.

* Design of electronic enclosures to meet product specifications for end use in military and

commercial applications.

* Perform board level design support such as PWB outlines, front panels, overlays & heat sinks.

* Coordinate technical support tasks with Electrical Engineering on board level and chassis level

projects.

* Generate test procedures for environmental testing of products.

* Provide technical oversight to in-house vibration, shock and thermal test programs.

* Support generation of 3D printed parts including model generation, build and post process

operations.

* Provide support to resolve manufacturing and assembly issues necessary to keep schedule

commitments.

* Manage new product development bill of materials and serve as an engineering interface for

Manufacturing.

* Generate full fabrication detail drawing package for complex electro-mechanical devices.

* Update drawings through Engineering Change Orders. Maintains revision control for required

changes

* Check work of MCAD team. Ensure the design and drafting support, documentation and

associated engineering support services are performed in-line with departmental and industry

practices.

* Analytical evaluation of design (structural, thermal, fluid flow, vibration & shock)

* Participate in peer and technical reviews.

* Participate in vendor and customer meetings and presentations.

* Perform thermal simulation using Solidwork Flow Simulation or Ansys Icepak using CFD tools.

* Provide technical oversight and mentors employees performing professional technical duties

related to Mechanical Engineering.

* Support continuous improvement initiatives and adheres to the VadaTech Quality System.

* Maintains knowledge in area of specialization, keeps abreast of developments in the field.

Required Qualifications/Skills:

* Must be a United States Citizen.

* BS in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field is required.

* 8+ years of related experience.

* Proficiency in 3D solid modeling software required (Solidworks preferred).

* ANSYS finite element analysis or similar tool experience a plus.

* ANSYS Icepak or SW Flow Simulation CFD experience a plus.

* Good working knowledge of dimensioning and geometric tolerances

* General knowledge of standard design principles related to sheet metal and machining

manufacturing processes.

* Experience designing rack mount equipment and ATR type enclosures a plus.

* Experience with PICMG ATCA and µTCA specifications a plus. Experience with ANSI/VITA

standards a plus.

* Utilize computer skills to prepare appropriate reports and documents. (MS Excel, Word,

PowerPoint).

* Hands-on experience designing, prototyping, testing and implementing components and designs.

* Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives with limited

supervision.

* Must be able to provide timely technical support to internal functions in a fast-paced work

environment.

* Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

* Exhibit sound interpersonal skills required in effectively interfacing and coordinating with

company personnel, customers and suppliers.

photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

* Ability to handle and lift objects weighing up to 25 lbs. alone; ability to lift objects weighing up to

50 lbs. in a two-person lift.
